Rescue efforts continue, as the Coast Guard search for 51-year-old Todman Davaughn.

ST. THOMAS — On Sunday, Coast Guard Air and Surface crews launched a search for 51-year-old Todman Davaughn after he was thrown off his boat following a crash.

Mr. Davaughn was ejected after the 30-foot power vessel spun out of control several times, according to a statement from the Coast Guard. A bystander who witnessed the incident from onshore called the 911 Emergency Call Center, which then notified Coast Guard watchstanders in Sector San Juan.

A friend of Mr. Davaughn reportedly towed the vessel back to shore.

A Coast Guard helicopter and a 33-foot special purpose law enforcement craft were deployed to search for Mr. Davaughn. Upon arrival, the air crew deployed a self-locating marker buoy to receive real-time information on the currents and sea state in the area, the Coast Guard said. An Ocean Sentry aircraft was also deployed to assist in the search, while St. Thomas Rescue teams responded with a boat, divers and a drone to assist with search efforts.

The Coast Guard cutter Joseph Tezanos was also expected to arrive on Sunday to augment search efforts, which continued through Sunday night.
