Painting task turns fatal: Michael Robert, 71, loses life in rooftop accident

ST. JOHN — A 71-year-old man, identified as Michael Robert, tragically died after falling from the second story of his roof in St. John on Wednesday, January 3, according to the V.I. Police Department. Law enforcement are currently investigating the incident, which occurred at around 3:30 p.m.

Robert was reportedly painting on his rooftop when he suddenly fell to the ground. His wife, who was inside their residence at the time, found him and immediately contacted emergency medical services. Despite efforts to save his life, Robert succumbed to his injuries, the VIPD said.

The incident was reported to the police at approximately 5:35 p.m., and emergency personnel responded to the scene at the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic. The case is now under investigation by the VIPD's Criminal Investigation Bureau and Major Crimes Unit, as they await findings from the medical examiner.
